Wellard Station
New Bus Rail Interchange Station on the new Mandurah line. Located within a cutting with 2 marginal platforms, concourse over & include a bus interchange, public car parks & public/staff facilities, Single point of entry.
Throughout this project MPS architects had to undertake the following;
- Extensive consultation with Relevant Stakeholders and Authorities including MRWA, PTA & City of Cockburn. 
- Constructability assessment commenced during Concept Design Stage. 
- Station built within an extremely constricted space and restricted environment in the existing freeway median / rail reserve under operating rail during latter part of construction. 
- Low maintenance regimes required with minimum expected service life of station structures & elements of 40 yrs. 
- Highly durable, robust vandal resistant materials required as appropriate for a public facility / structure. 
- Compliance with AS 1428 and the Disability Discrimination Act. 
- AS 5100 Collision Loading compliance for station building structures required. 
- Compliance with PTA’s Railway Safety Requirements in relation to undertaking work on or about the PTA’s railway network including station planning, design and documentation. 
- Co-ordination with Railway Infrastructure including all aspects of station planning, design and documentation relevant to the interface of the station with the Urban Rail Network Infrastructure.
